Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-12

By using Stock Compass ("the tool") you agree to these terms. Please read the "Not investment advice" and "Data accuracy" sections in particular.

1. What this tool is — and isn't

The tool is a decision-support and review tool: it applies trading rules you write to a watchlist you choose, and records and attributes trades you log.

It is not:

  • an investment adviser, broker, or stock-recommendation service
  • connected to any brokerage API; it never places orders or manages money for you
  • a source of personalised investment advice

2. Not investment advice (important)

Everything the tool displays — signals, verdicts, scores, valuations, backtest results, guide articles — is general information and the computed output of your own rules. It is not investment advice, an offer, or a recommendation.

  • We do not predict prices and promise no returns
  • A signal means "a rule you wrote fired today" — not "you should buy" or "you should sell"
  • All investment decisions are yours, and so is the risk
  • Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of your entire capital. For personalised advice, consult a licensed professional

3. Data accuracy

Prices, fundamentals, and earnings dates come from third parties (Yahoo Finance, HKEXnews). That data may be delayed, missing, or wrong:

  • Intraday data is typically delayed 15–20 minutes and is unsuitable for day trading
  • Fundamentals are quarterly and inherently lagging
  • Earnings dates are often estimates
  • Fundamental coverage is sparse in some markets (notably HK and mainland China)

We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data, and we flag insufficient data or low confidence where we can. Verify anything material before acting on it.

4. Backtest results

A backtest simulates rules against historical data and carries inherent limits: fill and slippage assumptions, survivorship bias, overfitting, and the fact that some indicators (fundamentals, earnings dates) have no historical series and therefore cannot be evaluated — in which case the interface marks the run as a "partial backtest".

Past performance does not indicate future results.

5. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential
  • Trades and holdings you log are entered by you; their accuracy is your responsibility
  • Don't use the tool for unlawful purposes or attempt to disrupt the service

6. Availability and changes

The tool is currently provided free of charge, "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We may add, change, or remove features, and may interrupt or discontinue the service. If paid features are introduced, we'll say so in advance.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, lost data, or any indirect losses arising from your use of — or inability to use — the tool.

8. Your data

How we collect and handle data is described in the Privacy Policy. You can export your data at any time, or contact us to delete your account.

9. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
